The conference at the IHK Region Stuttgart under the leadership of lawyer Dr. Tina Bergmann, lawyer Dr. Marco König and our partner, lawyer Dr. Alexander Hübner, offered informative lectures and an exciting exchange on current topics of public procurement law.

The focus was on

  • Current developments in public procurement law in the state of Baden-Württemberg - the new VwV Beschaffung
  • Current case law of the public procurement senate at Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court
  • Report from Berlin

The speakers

  • Brigitte Füllsack, Head of the "Legal Department and Public Procurement Law", Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism Baden-Württemberg
  • Angela Dittmar, Judge at the Higher Regional Court and member of the Public Procurement Senate of the Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe
  • Prof. Dr. Mark von Wietersheim, Managing Director of forum vergabe e.V.

Haver & Mailänder as host of a current event of the DIS regional group Stuttgart
25.11.24

On November 14, 2024, the Stuttgart Regional Group of the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS) hosted a top-class specialist lecture: Dr. Gottfried Hammer, attorney at law at the Federal Court of Justice, provided valuable insights into his practice in arbitration matters.

We are delighted that HAVER & MAILÄNDER Rechtsanwälte was able to host this top-class event organized by the German Arbitration Institute (DIS).

In his presentation, Dr. Hammer gave practical tips on the preparation and conduct of appeal proceedings and highlighted three exciting areas of case law:

  • Inadmissibility of intra-EU ICSID arbitration proceedings with important questions on international jurisdiction and admissibility, including in the case Uniper ./. Netherlands (BGH, Ref. I ZB 74/22).
  • How does the absence of an arbitrator's signature affect the validity of the arbitral award? (BGH, file no. I ZB 34/23 - “signature could not be obtained”).
  • Standards for bias in the event of a breach of disclosure obligations by arbitrators (OLG Frankfurt, Ref. 26 Sch 8/18 - the appeal on points of law was withdrawn shortly before the BGH deliberated)

Dr. Claudia Krapfl and Dr. Roland Kläger hosted the event, which again met with great interest from lawyers, judges and in-house counsel from the region. The discussion continued in an informal setting at the subsequent reception at Haver & Mailänder.

A big thank you to everyone who attended!

Our partner Dr. Roland Kläger is one of the coordinators of the DIS regional group Stuttgart.
